These Quick Halloween Deviled Eggs with Creepy Olive Spiders are the perfect spooky snack for any Halloween gathering. They combine classic deviled egg flavor with a fun, creepy-crawly garnish that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of paprika, for garnish
  • 1 can (6 ounces) whole black olives, drained

Instructions

  1. Hard-boil the eggs: Place eggs in a single layer in a medium saucepan, cover with cold water by an inch, bring to a rolling boil over high heat, cover, turn off heat, and let sit for exactly 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare an ice bath: While eggs sit, fill a large bowl with ice water. After 10 minutes, transfer eggs to the ice bath and let chill for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Peel and slice eggs: Gently tap each egg to crack the shell, peel under cold running water, pat dry, slice in half lengthwise, pop out yolks into a small bowl, and place whites on a serving platter.
  4. Make the filling: Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mash with a fork until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Fill the egg whites: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture into the egg white halves, leaving a little room for the spider.
  6. Create the olive spiders: Drain olives. For each spider, use one whole olive for the body. Slice a second olive in half lengthwise, then slice each half into thin strips (4-5 per half) for legs. Place a whole olive on the filling in the center of each egg, and arrange 4-5 strips on each side to look like legs.
  7. Garnish and serve: Lightly sprinkle with paprika. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For best results, use eggs that are at least a week old for easier peeling. The olive spiders can be made ahead and stored separately. Assemble just before serving for best presentation. For a spookier look, add a tiny dot of sriracha or red pepper paste to the olive body to look like spider eyes.
