A quick and easy holiday turkey breast recipe with a sweet and tangy cranberry orange glaze, perfect for small gatherings. This lighter version uses canned jellied cranberry sauce for a foolproof, juicy result.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 boneless, skin-on turkey breast (2 to 3 pounds)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) jellied cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 4 to 6 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional aromatics: quartered onion, garlic cloves, chopped carrot

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Let turkey breast sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  2. Pat turkey completely dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mash jellied cranberry sauce with a fork. Whisk in orange juice, honey, orange zest, and Dijon mustard. Set aside 1/4 cup for basting.
  4. If using aromatics, scatter them in the center of the roasting pan. Place turkey on a rack (or directly on veggies), skin side up. Brush with olive oil.
  5. Brush a thin layer of glaze over the turkey. Reserve remaining glaze.
  6. Roast for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and brush on another layer of glaze. Add thyme sprigs to the pan.
  7. Continue roasting for 20 to 30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 155°F (68°C) in the thickest part.
  8. About 10 minutes before done, brush on reserved glaze. If skin browns too quickly, tent with foil.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes, loosely covered with foil.
  10. Slice against the grain into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Drizzle with pan juices.

Notes

Don’t over-baste; stick to three thin layers. Watch the sugar content to prevent burning. Use a thermometer for accuracy. Let the turkey rest before carving. Make extra glaze for dipping.
