A quick and easy iced coffee recipe made with brown sugar syrup and oat milk, perfect for busy families. This kid-friendly drink comes together in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 cups oat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Whipped cream or oat whip (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Brown Sugar Syrup: Combine brown sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk until sugar dissolves (2-3 minutes). Add cinnamon stick and salt if using. Simmer for 2 minutes, then remove from heat. Let cool completely.
  2. Brew and Cool Your Coffee: Brew 2 cups of strong coffee (about 3 tablespoons ground coffee per 2 cups water). Let cool to room temperature.
  3. Fill Your Glasses with Ice: Fill two tall glasses to the brim with ice cubes.
  4. Assemble the Drinks: Pour about 2 tablespoons of cooled brown sugar syrup into each glass. Add vanilla extract if using. Pour cooled coffee over ice, filling each glass halfway. Top with oat milk.
  5. Stir and Serve: Stir well with a long spoon or straw. Taste and adjust sweetness. Add whipped cream if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
  6. Make the Kid-Friendly Version: Warm up oat milk, stir in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar syrup, and serve in a cute cup.

Notes

Make the brown sugar syrup ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to two weeks. For a quicker cool-down, pour syrup into a wide shallow bowl. Use barista blend oat milk for best creaminess. If oat milk separates, pour slowly over the back of a spoon.
