A thick, creamy, and protein-packed smoothie bowl that tastes like a treat but is secretly healthy. Made with frozen bananas, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter, this easy 10-minute breakfast is a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium frozen bananas, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup (120g) plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 2 tablespoons (32g) natural peanut butter (no sugar added)
  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk of choice (whole, oat, or almond)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the toppings (optional): granola, sliced banana or fresh berries, extra peanut butter drizzle, chia seeds or flaxseed meal, dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prep your bananas: Peel and slice 2 medium bananas into coin-sized pieces. Place in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Gather your ingredients: Measure out ½ cup Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, ¼ cup milk, 1 tablespoon honey (if using), ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Add liquids first: Pour the milk, yogurt, and honey into the blender.
  4. Add the frozen bananas and peanut butter: Drop in the frozen banana slices and peanut butter. Add the vanilla and salt on top.
  5. Blend on low, then high: Start on low speed for about 10 seconds, then gradually increase to high. Use the tamper to push ingredients down. If too thick, add an extra tablespoon of milk at a time.
  6. Scrape and blend again: Stop the blender, scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula, and blend on high for another 20-30 seconds until smooth and creamy, like soft-serve ice cream.
  7. Taste and adjust: Add more honey for sweetness or more peanut butter for flavor if desired.
  8. Scoop into a bowl: Use the spatula to transfer the mixture into a serving bowl.
  9. Add your toppings: Sprinkle on granola, sliced banana, a drizzle of peanut butter, and chocolate chips.
  10. Serve immediately: Smoothie bowls are best eaten right away for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Don’t overdo the liquid—start with ¼ cup milk and add more only if needed. Slice bananas before freezing for easier blending. Let frozen bananas sit out for 5 minutes if your blender struggles. A pinch of salt enhances the peanut butter flavor. Prep banana slices and measure dry ingredients the night before to save time in the morning.
