Quick and easy protein balls made with almond butter, dark chocolate, chia seeds, and oats. A perfect guilt-free snack packed with protein and healthy fats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) creamy almond butter
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa)
  • 2 tablespoons (20 g) chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) protein powder (vanilla or unflavored, whey or plant-based, optional)
  • 1 cup (90 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons (60 ml) honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and measure them out.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine oats, protein powder, chia seeds, and sea salt. Stir gently to mix evenly.
  3. Add almond butter, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix with a spatula or wooden spoon until the mixture starts to come together.
  4. Fold in the dark chocolate chips last to keep them intact.
  5. Using your hands, scoop about a tablespoon (15 ml) of mixture and roll into tight balls roughly 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate.
  6. Optional: Chill the balls in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature almond butter for easier mixing. Adjust oats or protein powder if mixture is too sticky or dry. Chill balls to firm up or eat immediately. For vegan version, use maple syrup and plant-based protein powder. Store in airtight container in fridge up to one week or freeze up to three months.
