A simple and quick homemade pumpkin spice syrup made with just three ingredients, perfect for adding cozy fall flavors to your coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
  • 1 cup water (240 ml)
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup (240 ml) water and 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar in a saucepan. Stir gently to combine before heating.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally with a whisk or spoon as the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes, until the liquid is clear and smooth.
  3. Once the sugar is fully dissolved and the liquid is simmering gently, whisk in 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Lower heat to medium-low and let the syrup bubble gently for 3-4 minutes, thickening slightly but remaining pourable.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool for 15-20 minutes. Pour into a heatproof jar or glass bottle and seal tightly.
  6. Store in the refrigerator and use within two weeks. Add 1-2 tablespoons of syrup to coffee or tea and stir well before serving.

Notes

Use medium heat to avoid burning sugar. Stir gently until sugar dissolves fully to prevent grainy texture. Store refrigerated and use clean utensils to avoid contamination. If syrup crystallizes, warm gently to restore smoothness. For thicker syrup, simmer longer but watch carefully to avoid burning. Adding a pinch of salt can deepen flavor.
