These easy mummy hot dogs with mustard eyes are the perfect Halloween snack. Made with just four ingredients, they are quick, fun, and guaranteed to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Optional: toothpicks or skewers for dotting mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated sheets, press seams together to form a rectangle. Cut the dough into thin strips about ½ inch wide and 4-5 inches long (about 20-24 strips).
  3. Wrap each hot dog with 2-3 dough strips at a slight angle, leaving a small gap at the top for the eyes. Overlap slightly and press ends to seal.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush generously over the dough strips.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 2-3 minutes, then use a toothpick or small squeeze bottle to dot two small eyes on each mummy with yellow mustard.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t overwrap the hot dogs; leave small gaps for a mummy look. Let mummies rest before adding mustard eyes to prevent spreading. Can be wrapped up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated. Freeze unbaked mummies for up to a month.
