A simple, creamy, and delicious slow cooker chicken recipe made with just five ingredients. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish delivers tender chicken with a savory ranch and bacon flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  2. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. In a medium bowl, soften cream cheese and mix with ranch seasoning until smooth. Microwave for 20 seconds if needed to soften cream cheese.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until chicken is tender.
  6. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks or shredding claws and stir to combine with the creamy base.
  7. Add shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon to the shredded chicken. Stir gently until cheese melts.
  8. Cover and cook on low for an additional 10-15 minutes to let cheese melt and flavors combine.
  9. Serve warm on buns, over rice, or with vegetables. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Do not skip softening the cream cheese to avoid lumps. Use fresh chicken breasts for best texture. Cook bacon until crispy for best flavor and crunch. If cream cheese separates, reduce slow cooker heat or add cream cheese halfway through cooking. Can be made in an Instant Pot using sauté and pressure cook functions.
