This homemade version of the Starbucks Pink Drink is quick, easy, and budget-friendly, using simple ingredients like hibiscus tea, coconut milk, and strawberries. It’s a refreshing, kid-approved treat that costs about fifty cents a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Tazo Passion Tazo Herbal Tea (or any hibiscus-based herbal tea)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup strawberry puree or strawberry syrup
  • 12 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced thin (for garnish, optional)
  • Freeze-dried strawberries (for garnish, optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the tea: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Pour it over 2 bags of Tazo Passion tea in a small saucepan or heatproof pitcher. Let it steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature (or speed up by refrigerating for 10 minutes).
  2. Make the strawberry puree: While the tea cools, blend 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries (thawed) with 1 tablespoon of honey or agave until smooth. Optionally, strain through a fine-mesh strainer to remove seeds.
  3. Mix the base: In a tall glass or pitcher, combine the cooled tea, coconut milk, and strawberry puree. Stir gently. Taste and adjust sweetness with additional honey if needed.
  4. Fill with ice: Fill serving glasses almost to the top with ice cubes. Pour the pink drink mixture over the ice, leaving about an inch of room at the top.
  5. Garnish and serve: Top with fresh strawberry slices and a sprinkle of freeze-dried strawberries if desired. Stir and serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t over-steep the tea (max 5-6 minutes) to avoid bitterness. Chill tea and coconut milk beforehand to keep drink cold without too much ice. Coconut milk may separate if the drink sits too long; stir before serving. For a crowd, multiply ingredients and mix in a large pitcher, but keep tea and coconut milk separate until serving.
