A stunning holiday appetizer featuring warm, creamy Brie wrapped in buttery puff pastry, topped with tart cranberry sauce and spicy jalapeño. This show-stopping wreath is quick to assemble and guaranteed to disappear at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 wheel (8 ounces) Brie cheese (Double Cream Brie recommended)
  • ½ cup whole berry cranberry sauce (homemade or canned)
  • 1 medium jalapeño, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish, optional)
  • Fresh cranberries (a handful, for garnish)
  • Flaky sea salt (like Maldon, a pinch on top before baking)
  • Crackers or sliced baguette (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a 12-inch square. Place the Brie wheel in the center. Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry from the corners toward the cheese, creating four ‘flaps’ about 2 inches wide at the base near the cheese.
  3. Spoon the cranberry sauce over the top of the Brie, spreading it evenly. Layer the jalapeño slices on top of the cranberry sauce. Drizzle with honey.
  4. Bring the four flaps up and over the Brie, overlapping them slightly in the center. Press the edges gently to seal.
  5. Brush the beaten egg mixture all over the exposed pastry. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and deeply golden, and the cheese is soft and starting to bubble at the edges.
  7. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. Transfer the wreath to a serving board or platter. Arrange fresh rosemary sprigs around the edges and scatter fresh cranberries for color. Serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette.

Notes

For a milder version, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeño or swap for a poblano pepper. For gluten-free, skip the puff pastry and bake the Brie in a small dish. The wreath can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated; add 2-3 minutes to baking time if starting from cold. If pastry edges brown too quickly, tent loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes.
