A quick and easy snack recipe that transforms uncooked pasta into crispy, flavorful chips perfect for snacking or sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (about 200g) small pasta shapes like elbow macaroni, small shells, or ditalini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional but recommended)
  • ½ teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toss the uncooked pasta in a medium mixing bowl with olive oil until evenly coated.
  3. Add salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Toss again to coat the pasta evenly.
  4. Spread the pasta in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, avoiding overcrowding.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the pasta chips using a spatula or tongs.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if using. Toss gently to coat.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes to firm up, then transfer to a bowl and serve.

Notes

Use dry, uncooked pasta for best crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to ensure even cooking. Flip halfway through baking for uniform crunch. For extra crunch, bake a few minutes longer but watch carefully. Season when chips are hot for better flavor adhesion. Air fryer option: cook at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes, shaking halfway through. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Reheat at 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes to refresh crispiness.
