A fun and easy Halloween-themed snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent dough with olive eyes, perfect for parties and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular-sized beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 small black olives, sliced in half
  • Yellow mustard or ketchup, for decorating or serving
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles. Slice each triangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving small gaps to create a mummy bandage look. Leave a small space near one end for the eyes.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  5. Lightly coat the dough with egg wash using a pastry brush (optional).
  6. Place two olive halves near the unwrapped spot on each hot dog to serve as eyes.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is puffed and golden and hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not wrap dough strips too tightly to allow puffing and crispiness. Use thin strips for even baking. Egg wash or melted butter helps achieve a golden finish. Press olive eyes gently to prevent falling off. Start checking baking at 12 minutes to avoid burning. For gluten-free or vegan options, use appropriate dough and hot dogs. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 2 days and reheat best in oven or toaster oven.
