A simple, warm, and comforting 10-minute party snack featuring soft pretzels, savory sausages, sharp cheddar, and tangy mustards. Perfect for impromptu gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • Soft pretzels (large, bakery or frozen)
  • Bratwurst or Andouille sausages (pre-cooked or raw)
  • Whole grain mustard
  • Honey mustard
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Whole grain crackers (optional)
  • Cornichons or dill pickle spears
  • Granny Smith apples

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sausages: If using raw sausages, pan-fry in oil over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. If using pre-cooked, warm in a skillet for 2-3 minutes or microwave for 1 minute. Let rest for 1 minute.
  2. Slice the sausages and cheese: Once cool enough to handle, slice sausages into bite-sized pieces or coins. Cube or slice the sharp cheddar cheese.
  3. Prepare the pretzels: Tear whole pretzels into large, bite-sized chunks. If frozen, warm in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes to soften.
  4. Prepare fruits and pickles: Slice apples into thin wedges. Cut pickles in half if they are large.
  5. Assemble the board: Place small bowls of mustard and dips on the board. Arrange pretzels in a circle around the edges. Place sausage slices and cheese cubes in the spaces between pretzels. Add apple slices and pickles in remaining gaps. Fill empty spots with crackers if desired.

Notes

Warm pretzels are recommended for best texture. If serving later, keep pretzels separate from wet dips to prevent sogginess. For gluten-free, swap pretzels for GF bread/crackers. For dairy-free, use vegan cheese and meat-free sausages.
