A cozy, non-alcoholic mocktail that perfectly balances tart cranberry, rich maple, and a hint of smoky bourbon flavor. This easy fall drink comes together in under 10 minutes and is perfect for gatherings or quiet evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) 100% pure cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) pure maple syrup (Grade A dark amber)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) bourbon extract
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) fresh or frozen cranberries (for garnish)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water or club soda
  • Orange slices (for garnish)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the maple cinnamon syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup (120 ml) pure maple syrup and 1 cinnamon stick. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Let it bubble softly for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and smells deeply of cinnamon. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick.
  2. Prepare the cranberry base: In a glass pitcher or large measuring cup, combine 2 cups (480 ml) cranberry juice and 1 teaspoon (5 ml) bourbon extract. Stir to combine. If using fresh cranberries for garnish, drop a handful into the bottom of the pitcher.
  3. Assemble the drinks: Fill serving glasses with ice cubes. Pour about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of the cranberry base into each glass. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of the maple cinnamon syrup. The syrup will sink to the bottom, creating a gradient effect—do not stir yet.
  4. Add the sparkle: Top each glass with about 1/4 cup (60 ml) of sparkling water or club soda. Gently stir with a long spoon to combine all the layers.
  5. Garnish and serve: Add a thin orange slice to the rim of each glass. Drop in a few fresh or frozen cranberries for color. Optionally, add a small cinnamon stick as a stirrer. Serve immediately.

Notes

The maple cinnamon syrup can be made up to a week in advance and stored in a sealed jar in the refrigerator. The cranberry base (without sparkling water) can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a hot version, skip the ice and sparkling water, warm the cranberry juice gently on the stove, stir in the maple syrup, and serve in mugs with a cinnamon stick.
