A spooky, glowing green punch made with lemon-lime soda, pineapple juice, lime juice, and lime sherbet. Perfect for Halloween parties, it’s quick to make and a crowd-pleaser for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 liter lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 cup lime juice (fresh squeezed or bottled)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 pint lime sherbet
  • Green food coloring (gel or liquid), a few drops
  • Optional: dry ice for smoking effect
  • Optional: gummy worms for garnish
  • Optional: plastic spider rings for garnish
  • Optional: lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the sugar: In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar with 1/4 cup warm water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Mix the liquid base: In a punch bowl or pitcher, combine the lemon-lime soda, pineapple juice, lime juice, and cold water. Pour slowly to avoid too much fizz escaping. Stir gently with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the sugar syrup: Pour the dissolved sugar mixture into the punch. Stir again until well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Color it green: Add 3-4 drops of green food coloring and stir. Add more drops one at a time until you reach your desired shade. Remember, the sherbet will lighten the color slightly.
  5. Add the sherbet (right before serving): Scoop the entire pint of lime sherbet into the punch bowl. Use a large spoon to break it into smaller chunks if needed. Do not stir it in completely—let it float and melt naturally.
  6. Garnish and serve: Drop in gummy worms, plastic spiders, or lime slices. If using dry ice, place a small chunk (about the size of a golf ball) in a heatproof bowl and set it inside the punch bowl. Never put dry ice directly into the liquid. Serve immediately in clear cups.

Notes

Chill all liquids beforehand for best results. The punch is best served within 30 minutes of adding the sherbet. For a dairy-free version, use lime sorbet instead of sherbet. For an adult version, add 1 cup of white rum, vodka, or coconut rum. Dry ice must be handled with care—never touch it with bare hands and never put it directly into the liquid.
